My folk art, whether it incorporates driftwood,
stone or wood, keeps close to my joy in the everyday, the found object,
the chance juxtaposition, the fluke happening. The base piece often
suggests the material needing to be added - cloth, knitting, paint...
I rarely plan the whole piece but let it grow organically... often
putting it aside as it doesn't seem to be working... then coming on
it again, maybe weeks later, and picking up the very missing element
that is needed to complete the piece. Thus these pieces very much
reflect my moods and the seasons' moods.
